Cordoba Private University participated in a workshop held at the American University in Baghdad to launch the Student Guide for Admission to Private Universities and Colleges for the 2025-2026 academic year. Representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and several admissions officers from private universities were also present.
Professor Mohammed Nazim, Director of Admissions and Registration at Cordoba Private University, represented the university at the workshop.
Workshop Topics:
The workshop addressed the most recent updates regarding admissions regulations and online application procedures. The Ministry of Higher Education also reviewed the instructions for the new academic year, emphasizing the importance of streamlining admissions procedures and expanding students’ opportunities to choose their academic specializations.
Key Outcomes of the Workshop:
• The Ministry of Higher Education announced a reduction of five points in the minimum admission requirements for private universities and colleges for students from distinguished schools. This measure aims to support high-achieving students and broaden their opportunities to enroll in their desired specializations within the private education system. • The Student Guide, which includes the minimum required scores for various specializations, has been released. These are as follows:
– College of Dentistry: 84.5
– College of Pharmacy: 84.5
– Departments of Anesthesia, Medical Laboratory Technology, Radiology, and Cosmetic Surgery:
Morning Studies: 69.5
Evening Studies: 64.5
– College of Medical Technology:
Morning Studies: 69.5
Evening Studies: 64.5
– Department of Forensic Science:
Morning Studies: 56.5
Evening Studies: 54.6
It was also clarified that the minimum required scores for the medical colleges within the distinguished schools at private universities will be as follows:
• College of Dentistry: 80%
• College of Pharmacy: 80%
• College of Medical Technology (Morning): 65%
• College of Medical Technology (Evening): 60%
• The remaining specializations will have scores five points lower than the general admission requirements.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the Ministry of Education stressed the importance of raising awareness about the new student guide through the registration departments in private universities, in order to ensure the clarity of instructions for students and parents, and to enhance the smoothness of the admission process for the new academic year.
