The Presidency of Cordoba University held a meeting with the Deans of the University’s colleges to discuss the official directives and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding institutional accreditation requirements for higher education institutions. The meeting emphasized the importance of proceeding with the implementation of institutional accreditation procedures and standards. It also addressed the formation of specialized committees and urged the Deans to initiate the required procedures and complete all approved accreditation requirements and standards. The meeting further stressed the importance of fulfilling institutional accreditation standards in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, thereby contributing to enhancing the quality of academic and administrative performance and advancing the University’s overall institutional standards.

Ms. Safaa Kadhim Jaffat, a faculty member at the College of Political Science, Cordoba University, participated in a training course organized by the Parliamentary Development Institute of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, entitled “The Legislative and Oversight Roles and Mechanisms of Parliamentary Work.” Her participation was based on a nomination by the National Youth Council Department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The training course was held as part of programs aimed at enhancing participants’ understanding of parliamentary work and its mechanisms, while providing deeper insight into the legislative and oversight responsibilities of the Iraqi Council of Representatives. The participants were received by Mr. Saad Fayyad, Director General of the Parliamentary Development Institute, in the presence of Dr. Ari Kamal Mustafa Beg, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports. During the visit, participants were provided with an overview of the functions of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, its legislative and oversight responsibilities, and the mechanisms governing parliamentary work. This participation reflects Cordoba University’s commitment to supporting its academic staff and encouraging their engagement in training and professional development programs that enhance their academic and professional expertise in areas relevant to their respective fields of specialization.

The Cordoba University Council held its regular session, chaired by the President of the University, Professor Dr. Wissam Salah Abdulhussein, and attended by the Council members to discuss a number of important academic, administrative, and scientific matters. The Council reviewed the latest ministerial directives, regulations, and instructions, as well as the mechanisms for their implementation. It also discussed preparations for the second-round examinations, including the announcement of examination schedules and the readiness of examination halls, while emphasizing the provision of all necessary logistical and organizational requirements to ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of the examinations. The Council also addressed matters related to academic promotions and academic titles, in addition to preparations for the new academic year. Emphasis was placed on completing all necessary academic and administrative requirements to ensure an organized and effective start to the academic year. Regarding scientific and research activities, the Council stressed the importance of strengthening the University’s research environment and encouraging faculty members to conduct and publish scientific research and participate in academic conferences and scholarly events. It also highlighted the importance of organizing specialized seminars and lectures that contribute to advancing the University’s scientific and intellectual environment. Furthermore, the Council discussed plans to establish and publish specialized scientific journals, particularly in the fields of technology and emerging disciplines. The University of Cordoba hosts Professor Dr. Thamer Ahmed Hamdan for two lectures on therapeutic lasers and medical errors. Under the patronage of the President of the University of Cordoba, Professor Dr. Wissam Salah Abdul Hussein, the College of Health and Medical Technologies at the University of Cordoba, in cooperation with the Iraqi Laser Scientists Association, is holding two scientific lectures to be delivered by Professor Dr. Thamer Ahmed Hamdan, Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon. - The first lecture: Low-Level Laser Therapy - The second lecture: Medical Errors The lectures will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in the university's conference hall. The invitation is open to all.
